Mission Statement

The Rick Meagher Charity Golf Classic is a non profit charitable organization established in 1988 under registration #89268 8961 RT0001.

Thanks to generous donations and money raised from the annual tournament, over $1,000,000.00 has helped support the needs of children with physical challenges in the Quinte area.

Gifts to qualified donees have included:

  • Belleville YMCA Special Needs Camp
  • Belleville Rotary Club Special Children’s Fund
  • M. S. Society
  • Juvenile Diabetes
  • Juvenile Arthritus
  • Belleville General Hospital Children’s Treatment Centre
  • Belleville YMCA Challenger Baseball
  • Quinte Access (transportation for those with physical challenges)
  • Easter Seals
  • Belleville Dialysis
  • Many, many Quinte Area families

Rick Meagher Biography
The idea to hold a celebrity golf tournament was hatched in 1987 by Rick Meagher and John Pepper. They had been searching for a means to raise money in support of children with physical challenges in the Quinte area. John’s daughter, who was also Rick’s God daughter, had been afflicted from birth with Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis. The Easter Seals and the Rotary club were very supportive of her financial and travel needs incurred during treatment. Both John and Rick wanted to do something to raise money for the needs of these kids with physical challenges in the area. After a lot of hard work and an idea - the first annual tournament was held during the summer of 1988. This tournament raised $13,000. To date over $1million dollars has been raised through this annual event.

Proceeds have gone towards home refits, special equipment, transportation costs, treatments and specially equipped vans. Custom play parks have also been constructed and designed with the needs of these children with physical challenges in mind.
